Hi, this is Rick Noriega, and I am the Democratic Senate nominee for the great state of Texas, running for U.S. Senate. On Christmas Day in 2004, when I was deployed to Afghanistan, a group of buddies and I drove down to Jalalabad road to get to an outpost so that we could wake up our children and our families on that Christmas Day through the internet.
As we approached that outpost, we encountered what we thought was perhaps a near-ambush. When we got on the computers to wake up our families on that Christmas Day, I suspect that the government probably listened in on my and Melissa’s conversation because it was communication between two countries. And I know that whoever did, probably didn’t notice a little change in my voice or the tone. But Melissa knew – she understood.
I went to Afghanistan and fought for this country, and to protect the Constitution of the United States, and I believe it’s wrong that there’s sweeping amnesty to those who have violated privacy laws that are protected by the Constitution.
Mr. Cornyn has a decision to make: whether he stands up for the Constitution of the United States, or for those special interest contributors that continue to fund his campaign. I think it’s time that we all took a deep breath and we ask ourselves what’s important: the Constitution or special interests that are influencing the politics of Washington D.C. and Mr. Cornyn’s campaign.

Mr. Noriega,
I noticed your name on the ballot during the Primary. I was not sure who you were and what your positions were. Now I do and I will be sending you a campaign donation. As a former Hillary supporter I have been waiting to see a little more of Senator Obama before I sent a donation to him. Now that he has expressed his support of the FISA compromise, I am sending my donation to you instead. Thank you for taking a stand with the constitution and for my privacy rights. I will be voting for you.

Viva Noriega !
so relieved to see Candidate Noriega against amnesty. most folks (including 80 US Senators) do not understand the sweeping scope of this bill.
we pray Rick continues his support of the 4th Amendment and Rule of Law and does not get in line with Nominee Obama on this fundamentally important issue

Mr. Noriega,
I was stunned by Barak’s apparent shift in stance on FISA and I am pleased to see that you DO NOT believe in retroactively changing laws to exonerate Law Breakers.
I have no particular desire to hurt the Telco’s for what may have seemed patriotic and necessary “at the start”. But I do believe they should defend their actions in court “and if found guilty” have to return any and all monetary gains from this illegal activity. (This assumes they immediately “cease and desist” all illegal activity until such time as Laws making the activity Illegal are changed.
However, should the telephone companies continue in blatant breaking of the law, they should then be prosecuted and fined to the full extent of the law. Their Officers should stand trial for having chosen to continue the illegal actions of their Corporations in the face of the clear and public fact that their actions have not been approved and sanctioned by the Congress by a vote in Congress to DEFEAT FISA.
On the other hand, if Congress does foolishly choose to endorse and make “The End Justifies the Means” the LAW OF THE LAND rather than reaffirming the “Constitutional Rule of Law”, ALL is lost;
…and if “We The People” stand for “that” we will have and DO HAVE the Government we deserve!

haha, that is truly ridiculous! You think the NSA is so incompetent that it can’t distinguish between terrorists and the troops we send out to kill them? That really is laughably incredible.
How do you propose we disrupt terrorist operations if we can’t infiltrate their communications?
